Don't know if she is or not, but AOL IM can be used without AOL monthly subscription. AOL IM is like Microsoft Messenger or Yahoo messenger..a free service seperate from AOL. But my guess here is that she is using the same login from her AOL subscription for the free service...thus to there system, she is still a member.
