Actually, I think it has disolved into a she didn't pay the mortgage case. I agree there was a huge foulup on the part of the mortgage company with the first missed payment. But, you don't solve problems with secured creditors by withholding payments to protest a dispute. This is what she's done. She now has some $1500 worth of legal fees to be added to the back of the mortgage and still won't get current. The payments she has refused to make are not the mortgage holders fault.

I have a similar problem. In June, we got the escrow analysis of a rental property we own. It is not close to being correct and this afternoon, I'll be making my 4th attempt at a correction. But, I'm still going to keep making the mortgage payment that they demand. I know eventually I can get it straightened out and then the overage will becredited back to the account.

That's what I was trying to explain to Jo. That you don't just stamp your foot and throw a fit and quit paying the company who holds your mortgage.
