Yesterday I waited to see if the VP of the mortgage company would call me - he did not. I waited to hear from my attorney to see if the collections person in their other office returned his call so we could arrange a settlement - the collections person did not call him.

Today I decided to send another fax to the VP myself and let him know about being harassed in the middle of the night and of our attempts (which he knows about according to the AG) to reach a settlement. Well, the fax number said it was disconnected!

I called the phone number the AG gave me - disconnected!

I called the AG's office and they investigated. They said that the area has a general phone problem but they put their investigative team on the situation anyway and they were monitoring it closely.

I then called my attorney - this is when I learned the idiot from the mortgage company had not returned his call of Friday. He called him again while I was on the phone with him - as I was on Friday - and got his voice mail - left another message.

I then decided to do a chronology of events since Friday and sent it - certified mail - to the VP's office and faxed it over to the AG's office, too.

This is so typical - hard to reach - get shuffled back to their collections office all the time. How can I possibly make a settlement with them like this? Meanwhile, the clock ticks!

Do consumers have NO rights? It seems that way.
