Because you "defaulted" on your checking acct...basically you either overdrew it or bounced a check and never covered it...you are now listed in a database called chexsystems...you will remain in this database with a negative for 5 yrs from the date you were first reported. All banks who use this database "chexsystems" will not let you open an account with them. All you can do at this point is to find a non-chexsystem bank.
