The whole lump sum settlement thing has me baffled. If I owe $10,000 on a credit card, and I'm 12 months late, how would anyone expect me to pay even 2,000 in a lump sum? If I am supposedly too broke to pay, how can I come up with that chunk of change? Seems like there is a lot of fraud out there for this type of thing to work.
