Well, I thought we had reached agreement with the mortgage company. We settled on a figure that I would pay - and then my source of funds fell through and I had to call them back and tell them. They said they could not change the agreement but I have until middle of next week to come up with the money.

During this time, the agreement was faxed over but it was stored in memory and I didn't see it until I made the call to tell him my source fell through.

Well, in the agreement it mentioned how many payments they had received in the past 12 months and he had told me they will not change the credit reporting from four months past due. He told me it is ILLEGAL for them to do so. Is that true?

He told me the only way to change it is for the consumer to dispute it and they will not challenge it. That part was not written in the letter though. In fact, the letter made it look as though it is my fault, not theirs.

Now what?
