I'm in the same situation as you..I am about to do a pre-chargeoff settlement. It's amazing..I told them I was going to settle and was even willing to make an interest payment so I didn't have to pay the settlement until Sept., but the original rep. that I spoke with wasn't in. I told them I would send in the $90 to my statement billing address..and they were like .."well...you better talk to the original person.."..it was so obvious that they were on commission. I said.."please give me the address you want the check sent to if it's not my regular payment address."..and they still totally hesitated. They were willing to take a check over the phone, but did not want me to send it in. Then the guy even said I could hold off for a few weeks and send the $90 in then...I was like "I have the money now..I'd like to send it in now.."... Bizarre!!

I called back for the person 3 times and he never made it into work that day. Who ever heard of someone in debt hounding an internal collections dept.? that was me! I finally got fed up and just paid the $90 by check, by mail.

My settlement will be listed as "paid settlement"...that's fine with me because I need to learn this lesson about credit card debt and i don't want to get card offers for a few years..otherwise i'll end up in the same situation as i'm in now. Good luck!!!
