Here's an excerpt from my original post:

"Well, in the agreement it mentioned how many payments they had received in the past 12 months and he had told me they will not change the credit reporting from four months past due. He told me it is ILLEGAL for them to do so. Is that true?

He told me the only way to change it is for the consumer to dispute it and they will not challenge it. That part was not written in the letter though. In fact, the letter made it look as though it is my fault, not theirs."

In short I am asking:

Is it true that the original creditor cannot change historic credit reporting?

Is it also true that credit reporting can ONLY be changed by the consumer disputing it via the credit reporting agencies?
