Chase offering 35% settlement

Should I do it ? This account hasn't gone to collections.. yet. The letter is from the OC and they are offering to settle for 35% of the total .. which would be about $1650. I know I'll get a tax hit for the balance, but is it worth it to try to settle with the OC at this point ? I am planning to file for bankruptcy, but that is still at least 4 months away. Even if I don't settle with Chase, will this letter give me any leverage for an even lower settlement later ?? I'm not sure what to do, exactly. Any sage advice ? Thanks !
