I personally have a Student Loan that was garnished by the IRS this account is about 13 years old. Anyway, after years of default and years of IRS garnishment I decided to start up payment to get to closing the account. What I know is the CA can not personally do anything to you like garnishment this comes from the OC directive. Also, (not sure) but I think if you search the posts this month you may find that wages may not be garnished only IRS... Also, if the CA gets rude w/ you, you can contact the OC (dept of ed?) and file a complaint to have a new CA assigned or make arrangements to pay them directly. I have done this personally as I had a run in with a (stupid) CA that I could of taken to court for violations. Hope this helps.
