Settlement Letter Help

I've checked why chat's site and even Linda's brief case, but haven't found a good settlement letter. I've never had to do anything like this before, but is there anything other than stating I'd agree to 50% of $6500.00 and the balance may not be sold to a collection agency as I don't want to be harrassed for the balance? I noticed on the letters that why chat sites has that it has it typed on the letter the certified number. Any help much appreciated. Want this to sound as professional as possible. Then if the balance is sold after they agree to settlement can they be held liable?
