It is my understanding that if you set up a payment plan with the creditor and pay what is agreed upon they cannot touch you. I also believe that if they continue to contact you after this point it is considered harassment. I don't know what state you are in, but the best person to give you advice is Clark Howard. He has a talk show in Atlanta, Georgia. Good luck.
