There is NO way the OC from another State can file suit against you with a ca "assigned" the account. As to the legality of the account being valid for collection at all- it depends on a whole lot of things. Your best bet is to calm down and take a deep breath and NOT DO DOMETHING TO MESS UP!!! I know how it feels to be under stress, but you have a BIG advantage, you are in 2002, with consumer protection laws and internet assistance and all sorts of available help, you don't even WANT to know how it was in "my day". Go to my site, click on the Find A Lawyer link, get yourself a consumer lawyer in your area to talk to. If you want, and if you are not nervous about e-mailing me, send me the name and address of the ca, and the name and address of the oc, and I will check them out.
