Big Tim is absolutely correct, however, he misunderstood my suggestion. I was talking about putting a mortgage on property, not conveying it out of the reach of judgments. Technically, it would amount to the same thing, however we are talking about the kind of disclosures that are required in a civil case, not a BK filing,, where the disclosure laws are more encompassing. It is something that should only be done as a last resort, in dire circumstances and with the advice of a good consumer lawyer.

As to your other questions;There is little risk in obtaining a credit report, as your home and address, mortgages, judgments and everything is already on public record, and available to anyone with internet access.

If you go to my website, there is a link called "Find A Lawyer". This goes to NACA, consumer oriented lawyers. There is probably all sorts of things a good lawyer can help you with in your area, as they would know the laws and how they are applied.
