Keeping a low profile...

I am fairly new to this board and I have been going through much of the archived posts and I have gleaned very important information from this site and I want to thank everyone on here who has helped not only me but the many others who have similar issues.

One issue that I am personally interested in is the "pulling" of one's credit report. I have have been "keeping a low profile" in the world of credit for about 2 years now due to a car repo (see earlier posts this month) and 2 credit card accounts that have been charged-off and gone to collections. Fortunately, I have not been harrassed to the degree that others on this board have been and think that's because I have not been attempting to get new credit. To the point, my questions are: When will it be "safe" for me to obtain my CRA reports, when the Virginia SOL for "open accounts" has expired (which will be 2003)or when the negative info drops off the reports (2007)? And since I have one CC that I am current on (and will continue to be, I hope), by not applying for any new credit of any kind will that keep the CA's at bay long enough for the SOL to come into play if and/or when they decide to sue?
