As I believe I told you earlier. If it is a "real" summons, with a court docket # you are supposed to file an answer with the court, with a copy to the lawyer. If your husband "stopped paying" in 1997 on a delinquent account,then it was delinquent for some period of time before that. If you have any record, or if your husband's credit report shows an earlier date than July of 1996 that it was charged off, then you can answer the Court with a statement that the account first defaulted over 6 years ago and the lawsuit is time-barred.Of course if it is just a "threat" to sue, or some other phony collection agency trick, then just use the letter re SOL from my website.
