I hope someone out there can help me. I received a call from a woman who said she was from a law firm in NY and was representing a company to which i wrote a check that was returned in march of 2000. She said they were willing to let me settle this for $185.00 I asked her how much was the check and would she send me the settlement agreement in writing. She said that she didn't have to and that if I didn't send the money tomorrow by western union she said charges would be placed against me. She said that (and began yelling at me on the phone} they can charge three times the amount of the check + atty fees and court costs and that they didn't have to sendme anything in the mail. Is this true??? I honestly don't remember the check and have heard nothing from anyone about it. Can someone help. I just don't want to send $185.00 to
her without knowing about this check.
