Where did this CA get a copy of your hospital discharge orders, and admission paperwork? Those items are confidential and are not to be given without the patients written acnowledgement. I work in a physicians office, and if the person in the hospital is not my patient, and I have no "Release of Medical Records" I can't get any information. This is a direct violation of federal law. Although the ca may be able to file suit for the debt, I wonder if you can file against them and/or the dr and/or hospital (whoever is at fault for releasing the records)for violating HCFA rules on confidentiality?
