I've been searching for the consumer law that is violated when the charge card company takes a regular payment, cashes it, applies it to someone else's account then turns you over to harassing collection attorneys who refuse to listen or acknowledge your complaint. The collection attorney then files suit on you and adds several thousand dollars to the suit for their fees. I've talked to enough people to know that this is not a rare occurrence, but it is rare that a case would get to the suit stage, but I am here and wonder if any experts out there know which Act this practice is a voilation of?
