Have your husband send a cease and desist letter, you can use the SOL letter from my website,Kansas has a 3 year sol for credit card debts, and a 5 year for written contracts, both the statutes are posted on my website. If it was a revolvng charge account it is an "open" 3 year SOL, if it was a fixed term loan it is 5 years. Do not worry about them filing suit against you in Mo., they would still have to get a lawyer in Mo t file, another lawyer in Kansas to serve your husband with the papers, and then all he would have to do is request a change of venue. So it is improbable they would go through all that, unless it is a fixed loan over $25,000. If they continue to harrass you, after they get the letter, you can file a complaint with the Kansas AG's office and the FTC, but I strongly believe the "SOL" letter will do the trick. Make sure you adapt it to your own circumstances, the part about lawyers is only for those who have been contacted by a ca law firm.
