I don't think you are looking at the correct papers. Your friend needs to go to the court and see what was filed. If a judgment WAS filed (a default judgment) and your friend entered into an agreement to pay it off,then he needs to have a copy of THAT agreement, if it was a mediated settlement, then the judgment was not filed and the terms of the settement are what prevails.
