deceased wifes credit card debt

my wife passed away and she had several credit cards.I`ve imformed the credit card companies that my name wasn`t on the cards and I hadn`t signed anything and they have turned it over for collection.Anybody else had a problem like this.Wife had no cash ,I do have a home but its not paid for and two 80`s model automobiles in her name.I live in Va.thanks for any info
