I can't address any of your questions about fraud, etc., but I do know that AMEX absolutely will hold the card holder personally responsible for corp. cards and their original agreement with you would have positively stated that, and you would have had to provide your ss# and if I recollect they also want your home address, phone #, etc. just in case they have to go after you personally.
