Charge off and Reposession

I have a car that was a repo in 2000. It is listed as a charge off. I am looing at possibly repaying the debt ands maybe improving my report. Is this wise or should I just let it ride? I also had a chage off on a bank loan that is going to be paid off this month. Would I be able to get them to remove the chrge off since the loan is paid now?
