Reporting time limits for charge-offs

A couple questions concerning when charge-offs can no longer be reported:

1. Section 605(c)(1) FCRAlists 7 years +180 days from the time the debt became delinquent. How can you determine when the debt became delinquent? i.e. how can you get proof of the date of delinquency?

2. Section 605(c)(2) states that this only applies to items "added to a file" after 455 days after enactment of the FCRA. Does this mean that it only applies to delinquencies that "occurred" after this time (i.e. the start point listed in (c)(1))? Or to delinquencies that were "reported" after this time (or whatever else is meant by "added to a file")?

3. What time-limits apply to items that are not covered by this Act due to (c)(2)?

4. Would disputing an item as age-old show up on a credit report, and negatively affect ones credit, even if the item is in fact age-old?

Thanks for any responses!
