In what form is your contract? Lease option? Contract for deed? Whatever it is, did you have it recorded so as to prevent the owner from entailing the property?I hope you had legal help in drawing up whatever agreement you have.Did you have a title search? Did you have a survey? Does the existing owner have a mortgage loan on the property? I know you came here for help on cc debt, but your situation is one I have seen before, and frequently turns out much worse than owing on credit cards.
