I nearly screamed troll but, I've some knowledge of what collector says may be true. Citibank is filing lawsuits against defaulted cc accounts prior to chargeoff. Now, I don't think the criteria is getting mail CRRR but, there are orginal creditors getting very aggressive very early in the game. By doing so, they avoid the FDCPA minefield. For example, many states small claims court don't even allow discovery. The OC doesn't have to validate. You won't know what they have until the day they show the judge. Plus, the earlier they sue the easier it is to retain evidence tying you to the account.

And, you have MBNA and there arbitration proceedings. I think the debt recovery game is changing. OC's are playing hardball a lot earlier instead of farming it out to CA's.
