Loan Paid/Still Showing a Past Due Balance

My husband and I had a car that was repossessed. We managed to borrow the money to pay off the deficiency balance. They took it completely off of his credit report after that. But, they left it on mine as refinanced but with a past due balance of $4800. Isn't this contradictory? How can the CRA do this? It is only on Experian this way. What can I do?
