Filing a bankruptcy petition will invoke the "Automatic Stay." The Automatic Stay is a stay against ALL creditors from purusing ALL remedies against a debtor until the stay is lifted. It would stop all garnishments against your wages, regardless of the state you live in. It also stops all court proceedings against you or your property. Consult a bankruptcy attorney if you are going to file bankruptcy and he should explain what happens. poor lawyer, esq.
