I have been served with a law suite for a debt in GA- last activity recent- 2000. I would like to settle this debt and need advice on how to go about it. I am about to file an answer with the court and the collection agency/lawyer. What are my options? I would like to propose a lesser amount, it has tripled since the last payment when I lost my job. I know I was wrong to ignore it, but I tried to talk to the OC and they rebuffed me and told me to call the collection agency/lawyer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The amount is $1500. I don't want my wages garnished and I am in a position to pay, but not $1500.
