Credit card debt

Live in Florida Went on medical disability 2-1-98 robbed Peter to pay Paul until last year keeping up payments. Looked into filing Chapter 7, paid attorney $500, then he wanted another $800 to file. Disability payments barely cover mortgage etc. Did not file. Pulled CR and shows all but one account being charged off. Then the phone calls from CA started this past week...UGLY....Now letters from outside CA...Do I ask for validation, ignore, file, My new husband knows nothing of any debt I owe.
Please advise..
