I have some old credit card debt I am paying off through CCS(Consumer Credit Services) each month. I have contacted the Credit Bureaus and am trying to remove the negative comments from way back and have the credit bureau update the status to my current payment method. But to complicate matters, my job position has just been eliminated which puts a hitch into the process I have already started. Should I call CCS to make them aware of my circumstance and they call the creditors or should I try to negotiate the amount directly with the creditor first to try to have the amounts lowered? I do not want to file bankrupty..this would be a last resort. Help!
