Late payments are the same as any other negative mark on your credit file...7 years (isn't that rediculous?). After a couple of years you might try disputing it. Even if it is true, the CRA's are required by law to investigate your dispute.... The mortgage company will probably verify it since you are still paying, but it's worth a shot.
