Quite often a mortgage lender sees a different report than you do. They are supplied by third party vendors and are very different than a regular consumer report. If items show up that were deleted because they were errors or fraudulent, then you have something to fight about. A bk 7 stays on credit reports for 10 years. It is a public record forever. If someone did a records search on me, they would see mine. If I am asked about it I answer yes, I did. I have copies of my filing and the discharge, and I will always have to keep them because I never know when I'll be asked for them. That's the way it is. It hasn't caused me any problems, other than finding it sometimes, LOL. Being dishonest about it can cause problems, though. So, once you file you can't pretend it never happened. Faced with the same situation again (God forbid) I would do it again. Linda
