I currently have a charge off for a credit card and was told that if I don't pay the balance (which I can only make payments rather than the settlement amount) that I would be summons to court and once the judge makes a conviction, I will have trouble obtaining any type of credit and could possibly be audited. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening?
