I just don't get it! I've been disputing an incorrect reporting on my Experian credit report since 4/02. I've posted before but the response I got today from Experian just blows me away!

In October 1999, I was so far in debt that my student loan payments to UNLV defaulted. A total of $722.00. The debt was immeadiatly turned over to the Dept of Education. I happend to get a decent paycheck at the time and was able to pay off the debt in full plus interest in Oct.99.

Experian is still showing an open and unpaid balance of $722.00 to UNLV.

This is the part that I dont get!

When disputing, Experian says to submit to them a letter from the creditor stating the accounts in question and their status.

I've twice submitted a letters from UNLV stating the account numbers in question and that they are closed, turned over to the Dept of Education and zeroed out. I've also submitted letters from the Dept of Education stating that NO student loans are outstanding and owed.

The response from Experian AGAIN states, " The information you submitted is insufficent".

Where do I go from here? Do I treat the Dept. of Ed. as a CA? Do I sue UNLV?

The kicker is that this is scheduled to drop off my report 12/02. I can finally afford a mortgage and give my paitent wife a house. I don't want to wait unitil 1/03. The rates are too good!

Thank you.
