I've no first hand knowledge but, I understand some credit card companies have hardship programs where they will temporarily reduce interest rates and minimum payments for a time. The catch is, you really have to be late {60-90 days} so your credit is trashed good and proper and, they will require a lot of financial inormation that will be used against you should you default and they file suit.
