i too received a letter from these folks re: an alleged debt originating with citibank. i have never had a bad credit report, have made major purchases without difficulty...i did have at one point an outstanding debt with citibank that was negotiated and paid. this occured 12 years ago. i do not have documentation of this as the sol had passed and i never had any problems because of it - until now.
? - would it be wise or not to contact citibank to obtain verification of past debt and subsequent payment of that debt? i'm not sure if contacting citibank would only open up another "can of worms" - as the total amount due to citibank was negotiated to a final amount less than what was originally owed.
any suggestions a/or hard facts on this would be appreciated. thanks.
