I was appalled by what you posted. I know you have a job to do, but I hope no-one yourself or someeone you love comes into this situation. For me, I never plannedon high-risk, bed rest pregnancies without my disability insurance wanting to pay. Two car payments and power seemed like more of a priority at the time, as did the health of my unborn baby. The day I arrived home with a c-section from my 1st child ( after 3 days of labor) I was greeted with a phone call from a rude, derogatory woman who told me "I was avoiding her." She insisted I make payments, which were more than my husband and I could afford. I didn't have a website such as this to come to, so I didn't know any better. She harrassed me with her calls, which I now know is illegal. I had to make payments that were higher than our rent on our house and my family, newborn included suffered, so I don't feel for collectors. They prey on the uneducated. In retrospect I would have sent a cease and desist letter and took my chances. I never planned on a high risk pregnancy and even if I did I had disability. Unfortunatly disabilty gave me the run-around about since I had a choice on pregnancy and not on a broken leg they didn't have to pay. They paid one week to the day when my daughter was born. That entire time we lived with one salary, trying to pay all of the bills, medicines and things for a new child. This woman told my family about the debt, threatened me, told my sister I was avoiding her and ruined what shouldh have been one of the happiest days of my life. If I knew the SOL hadn't run up (NC in 1994) I would file a complaint tomorrow) against her. Her supervisor even commented that, "If people like me would pay their bills we wouldn't have a problem and he didn't then I had a chld." I am glad it is behind me, but we did eat a lot 3/1.00 mac and cheese and hotdogs. At least you have a job, but realize, a lot of people aren't giving you a sob story, only the truth. Now, eight-nine years later I am paying bills that I need to for moral reasons even if past SOL (especially the ones still on credit if they put it on there late). Most people are honest. Remember that and you will go far1
