That old debt was probably in some computer files of old debts that were never udated, and were sold (huge quanitities at a time) to CAMCO. They are bottom-feeding slugs who buy these and them scam the people into paying. And yes, I imagine that when these were purchased, some of the thinking was that the people who originally owed these debts had probably gone on to do well in the meantime, might possibly have good credit, and might even pay them some or all of the money.

To get them, you have to catch them doing something wrong (if you live in MN they already have). To catch them, you would have to stir things up again to get them to do something wrong.

Did they send you anything in writing? Did you tell them anything over the phone that would make them go away? Have you checked your credit reports to see if they put anything on them?
