settling with a ca, Linda, Why Chat, any ideas?

I have posted about this account before and followed the advice I recieved and things have happened. But to recap: 1. This is my med. bill. 2. It is still within sol. 3. I asked for and recieved a good validation. 4. I made an offer to settle.
The ca did not accept my offer but countered with a dollar amount that I can live with. The only snag is that the ca is claiming that they cannot either delete this item or change it to paid as agreed. They are also claiming that it will be reported for 7 years from the payoff date. I'm not worried to much about the latter because I can contest that with the bureaus but if they would change how it is listed I would never have to deal with that. Any suggestions on how I might persuade them to change their thinking on this or am I just out of luck? I have a little time to play this game with them but not much. Thank you for any suggestions.
