Thanks for the reply. I have applied for a mortgage and CAMCO contacted me about the time the bank would be researching this. That is what had me concerned. I have not received any written info from CAMCO or anyone else in years. They called and left me a message that it was very important that I call them back (name and phone number, no company). I spoke to ONE guy, and he did not indicate that I failed to respond to any written communication. He said that CAMCO purchased my debt from CC company and that I still owe the debt. He offered me a settlement for about 1/2 of the 3,200 some he claimed I owe. (Claims of 1,600 orig. debt + interest) I told him that his records were certainly wrong and that this could not be my debt. I expect that I will recieve a letter from them soon. I'll post it when I do. From what I've seen here, I should send a letter stating that the SOL has run in this matter based on my records?! I have backup showing when the last activity was. What are the implications of all this as regards a bank mortgage? Am I back to the dark ages of feeling like a dead beat as a result of a major economic downturn and some bad descisions made a decade ago? If I deal with all this now, maybe I can try again next year :(
