SOL info.

Hi,
I checked Why Chat's website for info. on my state's SOL. (I'm in La.) It says 10 years for a written contract and 5 years for a promisory note. Maybe I'm just totally confused, but could someone please tell me the difference??

Also, on that SOL website, I noticed my state is listed with an '*' by its name. This in on some states, but not all of them. Does anyone know what it represents? I looked all of the page for a legend, but there isn't one.

One last 'newbie' question: What date is used to determine what the SOL date is? Is it the date any account was first opened?
