I'd think it would be better to ask for validation first. You also said to check every state that might have had jurisdiction over you. How the hell can they do that, especially if the HAVE your current address and have contacted you there ?? Wouldn't sending a summons to a 10-year old address, when they KNOW your current address be illegal somehow (Poor Lawyer ???) Why wouldn't that constitute improper service ? A checklist is a good idea, especially since we may need it to fight CAMCO ourselves. Thanks!
