1 week ago I posted a novel-like question about a paid medical collection that a CA had improperly attempted to collect (listed wrong OC in dunning letters, but put correct OC on my credit reports). I refined my letters with some of the suggestions that you all made. Scott, I added the applicable sections of the FDCPA that you cited for me, which IMHO made the letter sound 'almost like it was from a lawyer'! :-)
Anyway, I sent the letter to CA CRRR. I copied the letter and wrote another letter to the DR's Office stating that they were legally liable for the actions of their CA under the FCRA and of my intent to take legal action within 15 days if not deleted.......
I hand delivered these letters to the DR's Office on Thursday afternoon about 4:30 p.m. HOT-DIGGITY-DOG!! Believe it or not, by 9:45 Friday morning--the VERY NEXT DAY--their CA had deleted from both EQ and TU reports. Got a call from the office yesterday saying that they were going to take care of it (delete), that they were extremely sorry, and that I would be receiving written confirmation from the CA (She even asked if I would like for her to call my attorney that wrote the letters and inform him/her of their actions!!) I thanked her and told her that when I received the confirmation that the case would be closed as far as I was concerned!
Thanks again, WhyChat, Scott, Linda and so many others....the information that you all provide and the time that you spend answering questions like mine really does make a difference in people's credit--and their lives!

p.s. Circumstances in this case were somewhat unusual in that the CA made such a blatant error, but I would be glad to share the letters I was so successful with to anyone who feels that they might be of any benefit to them. Just let me know, I'd be glad to e-mail them to you or post them.
