Poor Lawyer..

Wow.. thanks for all that information !! Personal Jurisdiction certainly is a morass of issues. I had no idea. I once entertained a law career, but ended up going for Computers instead.. lol.

I did work with a lot of lawyers when I worked for a consulting firm that did a LOT of litigation support. I did what amounts to a lot of paralegal work for this firm, so I gained a lot of knowledge and insight that most people don't get. :)

Now, my next question. Hypothectically, IF CAMCO (or someone like them) were to win a judgement against me in another state, totally w/o my knowledge, wouldn't there be grounds of some sort, based on their devious tactics and outright lies, to have the judgment overturned and vacated ? I'm guessing it would mean a countersuit. If I had correspondence in hand, with a CURRENT address, from the CA, that clearly shows that they DID have knowledge of a VALID address before the suit was granted, would that not be vialbe evidence that they LIED, of only by omission, just to illegally win a default judgement ? I live in a 1 party state. If I were dealing with these scum, I would be taping their calls and keeping records. Whether the actual tape would be admissable I know is a touchy issue, but couldn't it be used as another weapon to prove they lied to the 'foreign' judge ??

Secondly, if they win a judgment in NY, and I'm a resident of TN, would that judgment have to be domesitacted to be enforceable in TN ?? Just wondering.. at this point its all hypthetical ponderings.

Thanks.. you are a gentleman and a scholar :)
