Before you see your lawyer, go read the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA). They violated the law by threatening jail and being abusive, especially to a child !!

Go to www.ftc.gov, under Consumer Protection, then Credit, you'll find the FDCPA links. Pay special attention to the section on harrassment and abuse. These scumbags need to brought up short and HARD !! You already have enough to file an on-line complaint with the FTC. I'd also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's Office and the IL AG's office as well. More people abused by these slugs need to file as many complaints as possible to put the spotlight on them !
