I will just summarize the one point I need to ask on. Basically, I find out about gas bill on july 26. I call and they give me fax to send in validation/dispute. On day 28 of validation it hits my credit report. I call and they said they decided it was not worth the hassle(i.e. no validation sent to them) so they closed the account. Then he tells me he refuses to take off the credit report. This is illegal correct? They could not validate so they shut it down. Then he tells me if I complain they will reopen it(only 2 days left to validate) and get the statements. Isn't that like blackmail or something. He said it would stay on unpaid(cost me 43 points) for 7 years even though they would no longer have the account. He also said they did not have to put it in dispute because that was my job. Huh? They also violated a cease/desist and did other stuff but bottom line is they cannot shut my file down and close it and continue to report correct? And if not, what is the statute.
