HOW I PLAY FISH

First I open a text file, to save URLs and notes in.

YOU may have lucked out, marianco, this law FIRM has been sued by a consumer rights advocate.

No website for this one, search other site for info?

STAFF BIOGRAHIES
http://www.hhllaw.com/staffbios.html
Their staff bios seem over-heavy on collections specialists. At least to me.
Yet Chu seems interesting, not just because he is the lone creditors legal eagle with some credits worth noting,

Underneath Chu, the usual suspects -- DEBT COLLECTOTRS

. Any familiar names there, MARIANCO?

NOW, check the name OF THE FIRM at BBB. Use both "and" and the "&" == I didn't but you should. Sometimes will not make any difference. Other times ...

http://www.connecticut.bbb.org/commonreport.html?compid=49000008&national=Y
will tell you enough to know that the law firm, real or fictitious, has either bought a debt from National Loan Recoveries or has been assigned to collect a debt National Loan Recoveries bought from someone, why NLR would share the wealth is unknown.
AND the first of several lunks at the BBB search site explains a few things. Beneath the veil of BBB membership for Natl Loan Recoveries we find a clue with BBB rating for this NON-member:

Gosh that's an interesting phone number. I guess the BBB got it number off some fax they returned pretty much unanswered. Anyone ever get a fax blast from that number offering to repair your credit? 'Cause BBB posts the same links here as they did for the Miami firm.

and there are a few complaints. Not a whole lot of them. But they have been around since 1929, the city and county and other bar assns should have heard of them by this time.

So far, you have a lot of stuff to read. And info links here just tip the iceberg.

DO THAT before you write or call Mark's firm.

DO write down your questions:. Some suggestions:
Get the list of questions on paper before you call,

Then when you call, call the main line and ask to talk with Mark Mailman's secretary or administrative assistant. Make sure you get her NAME so that you can write him or her a thank-you note.

Tell her you were searching on the internet for Hayt, Hayt & Landau and saw that MR. MAILMAN had sued them for something. It looks like he won, but you haven't been able to find anything about it on the Hyat, Hyat & Landau website.

I am hoping you can tell me something about the case, because all of a sudden lawyers who say they work for Hayt have been calling. And I don't know why.

IF SHE HAS QUESTIONS FOR YOU, ANSWER THEM, and cross off any that ask the same thing that are in your notes.

They say I owe some money to somebody. How come they are calling me about a debt but they won't say who I owe and tell me they are not even sure how much?

They say they are working for this company called National Loan Recoveries, and I never heard of them, either.

They have all these addresses and I don't even know which one is the one people are calling from (IF TRUE).

You will have to play it by ear from there with your own questions abourt what is happening that you have not shared with us.

Whatever she can tell you, thank her on the phone. Even though she says she can't help you. Find out what address you called to reach her, you forgot to write it down ...

... and send that note.
