I don't really know for sure.

But be very careful with that, because it would "imply" to the person on the other line that you are an attorney. If they have any brains, they would ask if you are an attorney.

The danger is that you could be found guilty of the "unauthorized practice of law," which is generally a crime. But I don't think that what you are doing would be that, I don't know for sure.

However, some states permit a non-lawyer to represent a person in magistrate court so long as the non-lawyer is not being paid for his services.

What I would do though is say that you are an "AGENT authorized by WhyChat to dispute the alleged debt on behalf of WhyChat." Then there would be no problem.
